Summer Days - June

We've had a great summer vacation so far!  Some activities we did this month include: lunch at the park, bowling, library visits, seeing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at The Empress Theater, West Fest, a couple barbecues with friends, Jump Around Utah, and Palmer went to Cub Scout Day Camp for two days.  I also enrolled all the kids in two sessions of swim lessons.  Palmer and Brody both learned how to swim (not amazingly yet, but they can keep themselves afloat) this summer.  And the twins have become much more comfortable in the water.  Here's a few pictures from taken during our first month of summer vacation 2016.

I gave all the boys buzz cuts.

Swim lessons: Palmer and Brody both started the lessons in the Seahorse level and finished in the Blowfish level.  Archer and Avonlea started in the Jellyfish level and finished in the Starfish level.

Silly Boy

This boy has really blossomed the past several months.  Since birth, Avonlea has really been the more dominant twin, and Archer has always been content to stay more in the background.  She often talked for him, and dictated what they would do.  And he was happy to go along for the ride.

Lately though, he's come out of his shell.  To the point that I would say at times he is even the more dominant of the two.  He talks non-stop... really non-stop.  Today as we were out driving he spotted an old model of a Volkswagen Bug.  He thought it was hilarious!  He said, "Mom, look at that funny car!  It doesn't go on our planet.  It goes in outer space!" He is very goofy and silly, and very active.  He still plays with Avonlea a lot.  But he also enjoys playing right along with the older boys, Brody and Palmer.  He really likes watching them play video games.  During the school year, he and Brody have become really close.  They both have afternoons off after preschool and Kindergarten.  I often catch the two of them huddled together giggling.

He is getting his own interests.  He's made a best friend in our neighbor Gavin; they love each other!  He really loves Scooby Doo and Paw Patrol.  He also likes superheroes.  He loves anything yellow or orange, which we think is quite indicative of his sunny and fun personality.  He is such a good little boy.  We all enjoy him so much.  He has a lot of energy but he is still pretty easy going.  In fact, the only times he really acts out is when he is overly tired.  I'm glad we've gotten to see this new outgoing, confident side of Archer lately.  I hope he keeps this fun-loving attitude with him throughout his life!

Preschool Graduation

Archer and Avonlea graduated their first year of preschool on May 25.  The both loved their first year of school.  They made a lot of friends, and Ms. Shayla is a wonderful teacher.  For their graduation, each of the kids recited a short summary of what they did each month and then they say a song or two that they had learned that month.  They both said their part well and sang and were very animated.  It was a lot of fun to watch.  The twins are excited to return to the second year of preschool next year with Ms. Shayla.
