Six Month Old Twins
Archer and Avonlea are now six months. Time always flies by with children, babies especially. However with twins, time doesn't just fly by; it's more like a whirlwind tornado. I honestly have no idea how we got to this point. I feel like they should still be itty bitty newborns. As much as I'd like to make time stand still, I do have to admit that they are at a super fun age right now. They smile, laugh, talk, play. It's great fun to have them in our lives!
Archer - Archer has got to be our stockiest baby. All of my other children have been described as small boned by doctors. Archer is definitely not. His hands and feet are so much larger than Avonlea's. Even though she looks softer and chubbier, he is definitely more solid. He is so great natured. He is almost always smiling and chirping away. Sometimes we feel bad because we do not get to Archer as often as Avonlea simple because he does not demand as much attention. On the rare occasions that he gets upset, it is usually because he is hungry. He almost always eats more than Avonlea (bottle and baby food). He often has bare feet because he is so active and is always kicking his socks off.
Stats: weight - 17 lb. 1 oz (35th percentile), height - 28 1/4 inches (92nd percentile), head circumference - 14th percentile, and height to weight ratio - 1st percentile
He has learned: to transfer items between his hands and to sleep longer through the night (up to nine hours)
He likes: eating, being tickled, being sang to, his bouncer, baths, hearing himself squeal, baby toys, his big brothers (he laughs harder for Palmer and Brody than anyone else)
He dislikes: belly time, the Bumbo
Things he does/about him that make us laugh: really loud high pitched squeals, and huge smiles that come easily (unless a camera is out)
Avonlea at 6 months is already such a girly girl. She loves attention! She lights up whenever someone tells her she is pretty. Her cheeks are soft and always rosy. She has such gorgeous blue eyes with eyelashes so long I had a friend compare them to butterfly wings. She is always decked out in bows, flowers, frills and ruffles. I just changed out the babies clothes for the next size up and Avonlea's wardrobe is darling and fit for a little princess (thanks to many generous shower gifts and a ton of hand-me-downs). I couldn't even fit all her clothes in her dresser and made a box of hand-me-downs to pass on that she hadn't even gotten a chance to wear yet. In comparison, all of Archer's clothes are stained and worn out, most having gone through at least three boys before him. (I definitely need to buy baby boy some new clothes!) This is what is going on with Avonlea at six months.
Stats: weight - 15 lb. 7 oz (38th percentile), height - 27 1/4 inches (89th percentile), head circumference - 23th percentile, and height to weight ratio - 1st percentile
She has learned: to transfer items between her hands, to sleep longer through the night (up to nine hours), to bounce herself in the bouncer
She likes: being held, getting attention, being sang to, the baby gym, baby toys (especially stuffed animals), her binkie (she has starting wanting it more often than just at naptime and bedtime), her brothers (she laughs harder for Palmer and Brody than anyone else)
She dislikes: being alone
Things she does/about her that make us laugh: she loves to be held so much that she will literally fall asleep sitting up on someone's lap because she would rather be held than go to sleep no matter how tired she is, she likes to lean in and get right in your face and will cuddle up as close to you as she possibly can
